Behind The Music
Heather Nikole Harper is an East Texas native based in Tyler, Texas and is a Singer, Songwriter, Musician, and Independent Recording Artist. She is a member of the BMI Performance Rights Organization. And a member of both the Texas Highway Women and Texas Country Music Association. Heather embarked on her musical voyage of artistic discovery as a youngster, growing up listening to a variety of musicians and genres that have played an influential role in shaping her signature sound. She first learned she could sing at age 3 when her mother caught her singing in the bathtub. She also learned and picked up the guitar at just age 7 in addition to writing and composing her own songs not long after. For the longest time, Heather played the guitar by ear until just recently a few years ago, teaching herself how to read chords. Songwriting has always been something that has come natural to her. “Around middle school was when I first started writing and composing my own songs. I always write about what I feel or life experiences that either I or someone else may be going through. I just know people can relate to songs that come from a deep place in the heart.” Heather says. Heather seeks to offer something different and unique to her fans by creating and performing original music that she is proud to call her own. As a recording artist, formerly a pop artist now known as a country artist but during her live shows she enjoys covering just about every genre out there even including her own originals. “I don’t really believe in putting myself in just one genre of music when it comes to performing as I grew up listening to it all and still have a love for all types of music. Besides the crowd loves the variety.” Heather says. She has recently been recognized for her outstanding television performance on CBS 19. While also getting recognition on several radio shows such as The ETX Rocks Show and The Speak EZ to name a few of them. And for being published in many well known magazines such as EGuide Magazine and Voyage Houston City Guide Magazine to name a few. East Texas Radio and CBS 19 has called her the fastest growing artist in East Texas! Just recently, she was chosen to represent her hometown of Tyler, TX and just finished undergoing filming for a video promotion for the City of Tyler as herself and the video will also be displaying her song Turn It Up, that will be on her upcoming country album. The song was also written about Tyler, TX. The video will also be showing the arts and music of Tyler, TX as well as its culture that will be publicly displayed all over and could even be seen on television here soon. She is one of the most requested artist in her area by popular demand for being booked to perform at venues. Heather is also known for auditioning for the hit shows American Idol Season 7 and The Voice Season 8, only before getting cut before the live shows. Heather says, “I feel like there is a time and a place for everything, and it’s just not the right time yet or I am just not meant to go the reality show route. I think I am doing a great job moving forward on my own. I feel you also learn better by doing things on your own time. But sure if I was given another opportunity to be on any of the shows, I might consider it.” She has also been in several local and regional talent shows including for her songwriting, either winning 1st place or coming out at the top such as, East Texas Idol, Operation Rising Star, ETX Got Talent, ETX Vocal Competition, 2017 Finalist at Billy Bobs Texas Singing Competition and is a 2018 Texas Music Pickers Songwriter semi-finalist, while including many more.
