From singing in church as a young child to performing alongside her mother and eventually teaching herself guitar overnight to save an important show, award-winning singer, songwriter, musician, and recording artist Heather Nikole Harper has built a career rooted in passion, perseverance, creativity, and a genuine love for connecting with people.

Heather’s passion for music began at a very young age, singing in church and growing up in a family where music was always a part of life. Her biggest inspiration has always been her mother, who encouraged her love for music and helped nurture the passion that would eventually become Heather’s lifelong career.

At age 10, Heather experienced a defining moment when she performed a show alongside her mom at Chandler City Hall in Chandler, Texas. While music had already been a meaningful part of her life, standing on stage in front of an audience was when Heather discovered just how much she loved performing. That experience planted the seed for what would eventually become a lifelong career on stage.

At age seven, Heather received her first guitar and spent years learning music by ear, developing a natural ability to hear melodies, harmonies, and arrangements. Those early experiences helped shape the versatile musician and songwriter she would become.

Before making music her full-time career, Heather spent several years working professionally in the modeling and creative industries. Her modeling career included runway, catalog, print, television, and magazine work, giving her extensive experience both in front of the camera and on professional sets. As her experience grew, Heather also became a professional photographer, eventually working both in front of and behind the camera.

For a time, Heather pursued both modeling and photography before stepping away from modeling to focus on raising her children. Those years gave her a unique perspective on creativity, performance, visual storytelling, and connecting with an audience; skills that would later become valuable throughout her music career.

In 2016, Heather made the life-changing decision to turn her passion for music into a full-time career, beginning a journey that has since taken her to stages across Texas and beyond.

That journey was defined by perseverance from the very beginning. When Heather first began booking shows, she performed alongside a guitarist because she had not yet learned to accompany herself. The day before an important three-hour performance, her guitarist unexpectedly stepped away. Rather than cancel the show, Heather taught herself to play well enough in a single day to perform the entire show on her own. She took the stage, completed the performance, and continued building her career as a solo artist.

As Heather’s career continued to grow, she expanded her musical vision and officially formed her full band in 2018. This allowed her to bring a bigger, more dynamic sound to larger stages, festivals, and events while continuing to perform the intimate acoustic shows that helped build her foundation.

Today, Heather performs in multiple formats; as a solo acoustic artist, with her full band, and as one-half of the award-winning duo Drifted Harmony; bringing the same authenticity, energy, and connection to every audience.

Proudly rooted in East Texas, Heather refuses to be confined to a single genre. Blending southern rock, blues, country, pop, folk, and americana influences, she writes songs inspired by real life; some heartfelt and emotional, others upbeat, fun, and made to bring people together. As a songwriter, Heather believes music should tell honest stories without being limited by labels.

That same versatility shines through in every live performance. Whether she’s sharing an original that captures a meaningful moment, performing a fun, crowd-favorite cover that has the audience singing along, or delivering a high-energy full-band show, Heather creates an experience that feels personal, engaging, and memorable. Her goal is simple: make every audience feel like they’re part of the music.

Since launching her full-time career in 2016, Heather has performed more than 1,000 live shows at music venues, festivals, fairs, corporate events, private events, and community celebrations throughout Texas and beyond, including appearances at the East Texas State Fair. Her experience ranges from intimate acoustic performances to major festival stages, performing for audiences of more than 3,000 people.

Heather’s dedication to her craft has earned her numerous nominations and accolades throughout her career. In 2022, she received the Josie Music Award for Female Artist of the Year at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2025, her award-winning duo Drifted Harmony received the Josie Music Award for Song of the Year for their original song, Dead Man Running.

Her original music has reached audiences beyond the stage as well. Her single Shouldn’t Have Fallen was featured in an independent film, Turn It Up became the official song for the City of Tyler’s Visitation Center, and her patriotic original This Soldier earned three nominations at the 2024 Josie Music Awards.

Heather has also received callbacks from both American Idol and The Voice, experiences that strengthened her determination to continue forging her own path as an independent artist. Today, her growing catalog includes an EP and multiple singles spanning a wide range of musical styles, reflecting her belief that great songs transcend genre.

Beyond performing, Heather is passionate about supporting the music community that has supported her. She is the Founder and President of the Sounds of East Texas, a music and entertainment company created to celebrate Texas talent through awards, events, community initiatives, and opportunities that connect artists, musicians, venues, and industry professionals.

When she’s not on stage, Heather is a devoted wife and mother of four. Her husband has been an important part of her journey, supporting her music career behind the scenes; from helping with equipment and traveling to shows to sharing in the responsibilities of raising their family while she pursues her passion. Her journey has never followed a single straight line; from music and modeling to photography, motherhood, and ultimately building a full-time music career; but every chapter has contributed to the artist and storyteller she is today.
